How to choose a sewing machine, when you don’t know anything about sewing machines? With all of the sewing machines out there it might be confusing which one will fit your needs best. Here is a short guide on how to choose the right sewing machine.

We all have heard that the quality comes with the price, however there is no reason to buy the most expensive, having all the features.

The sewing machines are categorized by motor types – Mechanical, Electronic and Computerized.

Mechanical ones are the most basic and reliable sewing machines available. Why choose this one? The machine is simple to use and is perfect for beginners. It is easy to maintain – no computer or electronical components, and nonetheless is cheaper than the others. They come equipped with a pedal that controls the sewing speed and knobs that you turn to control the stitch selection, width and tension. You are the one who controls everything.

The second one is an electronic sewing machine – a mixture between mechanical and computerized.  These specific machines often have a display and programmed stiches, patterns and designs. Although these one doesn’t have a pedal control, many of them sew with the press of a button.

Last, the computerized sewing machine – the most elaborated of all and the most expensive ones. These machines have a LED screed and are the most sophisticated type, offering more stiches and functions. They are precise and loaded with features.
